« Middle School - Engineering Elective - Making Aerodyamic Sails »

In Wednesday’s Engineering class, Middle School students worked on a challenge to make sailboats with sails designed to harness maximum windpower. First, the students watched a video about how professional sailmakers design sails. Then, teams of students created their first sail design and tested it out in a small plastic pool behind the classroom, powered by the wind from a fan. After the first test, each team redesigned their sail to attempt to improve their design, and then they tested their second round of sail designs.
