Summer discovery for students entering 2nd or 3rd grade in the fall. Students enjoy two field trips each week that take campers off campus (one for learning and one just for fun). The weekly schedule also includes a special, on-site presentation that will keep campers busy and engaged with awesome, theme-related experiments and activities. There will be plenty of time in the Art and Computer Labs, and every Friday campers indulge in water adventures, either at a local beach or on our 27” high giant “Hurricane” water slide.

Camp Rockz

Week 1: July 10 to July 14Week 2: July 17 to July 21

“CampRockz” Weeks will give campers a chance to explore geology, paleontology, and physical sciences with opportunities to learn, create, and just have fun with rocks, fossils, and the mysterious forces that act on our rocky planet.

Some of the field trips being considered for the two-week session are rock climbing and trampolining (defying gravity), the Reuben Fleet Science Center, panning for gold in Old Town San Diego or Julian, the Discovery Cube in Orange County (which has an amazing dinosaur activity area), the San Diego Archaeological Center, and Stone Stories in Escondido. We’ll also make our own fossil casts with items we collect on a mini hike in the on-site Conservation Area.

Wet n’ Wild

Week 3: July 24 to July 28Week 4: July 31 to August 4

“Wet n’ Wild” Weeks will provide campers with opportunities to explore the world of water, and the life that inhabits it.

In addition to exciting off-site trips, special on-site presentations will bring the ocean and its creatures to us. Some of the trips being considered are the Ocean Institute in Dana Point, Birch Aquarium, the tide pools at La Jolla Shores, the Living Coast Discovery Center, Sea World, Aquatica, Legoland, or Wave Water Park, and the Alga Norte Community Pool. Campers will create their own on-site classroom “aquarium” by making models of invertebrates vertebrates, as well as plants and animals that live in the sea.

Got Game?

Week 5: August 7 to August 11Week 6: August 14 to August 18

“Got Game?” Weeks will give campers the chance to have lots of fun learning to play some games they may never have played, and some games that they already know and love.

During Week 6, campers will enjoy a trip to Petco Park to watch the Padres play the Minnesota Twins. Some of the other field trips under consideration are Laser Tag, Bowling, Pelly’s Miniature Golf, K1 Speed, Xtreme Fun’s obstacle course at San Dieguito Park, and the Children’s Museum and Waterfront Park. There will be outdoor games like Frisbee golf, soccer, kick ball, Gaga Ball, Bocci Ball, etc., as well as indoor activities such as board games, LEGO building, and MineCraft in the Computer Lab.
