Kids Korps USA is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit youth volunteer organization that engages young people, ages 5 through 25, in community service. Their mission is to instill in America’s youth the spirit of giving while providing valuable education in leadership and responsibility. Kids Korps partners with more than 250 national and local non-profit organizations to offer more than 1,000 hands-on service opportunities each year, bringing lasting benefits to the community and developing leaders for life through youth volunteerism.
ECDS sponsors a Kids Korps Chapter right here, on-campus. When a student gets involved with Kids Korp, the many hours he/she gives to community projects and service will be documented by the organization and stored for use on college applications, when the time comes. Our Kids Korp Chapter coordinates registration of specific projects and helps with the documentation of members’ participation. We encourage our families to use this wonderful organization to encourage a spirit of service in their student and track their student’s service over the years.
ECDS students can join the ECDS Kids Korps chapter by going to the Kids Korps website, clicking on the “Join Now” button on the top of the screen, and choosing the “Encinitas Country Day School” chapter. The ECDS Kids Korps chapter schedules multiple projects through the school year for their members. Past projects have included making pet toys for an animal shelter, playing games with seniors at a senior center, creating seed balls to help birds and the environment, and working with SDG&E to repurpose electrical meters into artwork.
