ECDS students may sign up for after school or summer workshops offered by the Polestar Performing Arts Academy * or audition for an upcoming Polestar Musical Theater Production.
(*Polestar Lifetime Learning Foundation is a 501 (c) (3) public benefit non-profit corporation that is currently operating on our campus offering enrichment opportunities to students from any local school. Programs are open to all interested and qualified local youth on a sliding scale and according to availability.)
Artist’s Workshopz are a series of hands-on Studio Art Adventures that focus on a specific artistic medium and result in finished art pieces for students to take home. Students work side-by-side with an artist- instructor to develop proficiency in various artistic techniques, including life drawing, watercolor and more.

Ceramics Workshopz provide students with opportunities to explore and create with clay. They are guided through an artistic process that involves forming, firing, and glazing clay art pieces, and results in finished products for students to take home.
The Winter Session begins Wednesday, January 14 and continues through March 25, a total of 11 classes. Students in grades 1 and above are welcome to join the class.

Dancer’s Workshopz offer quality and fun dance instruction for students ages 5 and up. The classes are an age-appropriate combination of Ballet, Stretch, Jazz, Lyrical and Hip Hop. The Spring session begins the week of February 2 and continues through May 6 (No classes the weeks of 2/16 and 3/30). Each Dance team will perform in full costume for family and friends at the end of the session.

Dancer’s Workshopz offer a wonderful way for students to begin their exploration of body movement to music. In addition, they are introduced to traditional Ballet and Jazz techniques. The Spring session classes begin on February 12 and continue through May 8 (No classes on February 13, April 2 and April 3). There will be a dance recital in full costume at the end of the session for family and friends.

RockBand Workshopz offer quality and fun instruction in voice, drums, guitar, bass guitar, and keyboard, for students in grades 3 and above. Each instrument study has a separate instructor. The hour and a half work- shops include a 45 minute session focusing on technique on the instrument of choice, and a 45 minute full band rehearsal including all the instruments and vocalists. All are welcome, including beginner through more advanced students. The staff will layer the difficulty of the instruction, depending on the skills of the students. A performance for students, families and friends will be presented at the end of the session.

Singing Workshopz are a series of group singing classes for students in grades 3 to 6. Classes focus on voice training, with students learning individual songs of choice, as well as group ensemble pieces. Voice training includes exercises and techniques that are practiced both in class and at home, all designed to help students develop their own individual ability, range, and style.
The Winter Session begins Monday, January 12 and continues through March 23. (No class 1/19 and 2/16) An informal recital for family and friends will be held the last week of class.

Digital Art Workshopz take place in the state-of-the-art ECDS Computer Lab. This Winter session offers a class in computer programming. Students develop proficiency in coding (programming) which allows them to create games and other basic computer applications. Students in grades 1 through 8 are invited to join the class.
The Winter Session begins Tuesday, January 14th and continues through April 3rd , totaling 12 weeks.
