3rd Grade – Aqua Hedionda Lagoon Field Trip

Feb 18 / 2015

3rd Grade students went on a Field Trip to the Discovery Center at Aqua Hedionda Lagoon in Carlsbad last Thursday. They attended a workshop called “Adaptations: Live and Learn”, and students rotated through 5 different stations to learn why natural adaptations are important to plant and animal wildlife. At the “Bird Beak Buffet” station, which highlighted different bird beak shapes which helped students understand the food that is the best fit for each bird, one of the activities required students to practice to be a woodpecker by using chopsticks to mimic the actions of a woodpecker’s beak.
