3rd Grade – Field Trip to SeaCamp on Fiesta Island

Jun 03 / 2015

3rd Grade students went on their annual field trip to SeaCamp on Fiesta Island to wrap up their studies of fish and invertebrates. At SeaCamp, students dissected fish, learned about sharks, learned how to classify fish, and went seine fishing* using a large net to capture and examine ocean life. [*A fishing seine is a horizontal net that has floats holding the top line of the net at the water’s surface. The net extends down in the water due to weights placed on the net’s bottom line. The weighted line can then be pulled, so that the net acts like a purse.]
