Odyssey of the Mind – ECDS Team Places 2nd in San Diego Competition!

Mar 11 / 2015

“Odyssey of the Mind” is an international educational program that provides creative problem-solving opportunities for students. Team members apply their creativity to solve problems that range from building mechanical devices to presenting their own interpretation of literary classics. A 7-member team of 4th and 5th Grade students represented ECDS at an “Odyssey of the Mind” competition in San Diego in February. Their team won 2nd Place, and they will be competing in the California State Tournament at UC-Riverside on March 28. The ECDS team chose to solve a “Silent Movie” problem, so their team created and presented a performance depicting a Director character that produces and presents a silent movie featuring a humorous villain character that commits three silly acts of villainy. The characters couldn’t speak since it was a silent movie, and the team had to use music played on a team-created instrument and use creatively displayed subtitles to convey their story to the audience and judges. Congratulations to all of the ECDS Odyssey of the Mind team members!
