Jan 06 / 2012

We’re excited to announce that ECDS has a beautiful brand-new website! The new ECDS website reflects all of the academic and enrichment programs at ECDS in a dynamic and stylish format, and it includes many beautiful photos of our campus, students, and staff. We’d like to send special thanks to our talented website developer, Rick Bychowski (Rose and Lily’s Dad), for all of his hard work and dedication towards creating this new website for ECDS. We invite you to take a digital tour at http://ecdschools.org, so you can see why we’re so proud of our new website!

Don’t miss the exciting production of School House Rock, directed by Ms. Colby and starring a lot of talented ECDS students! Shows are Sat. 1/7 at 6:00 pm, Sun. 1/8 at 2:00 pm, Sat. 1/14 at 6:00 pm, and Sun. 1/15 at 2:00 pm, and you can buy tickets at the table outside the office.

Principal’s Message

I would like to start 2012 off by wishing everybody a very Happy and Prosperous New Year. I hope that this year brings each and every one of you everything you hope for! I would like to thank all the parents and kids at both campuses who participated in the Kid to Kids program just before the break. We donated the presents to Interfaith, and they were overwhelmed by the 100 packages we delivered to them. It more than doubled the number of families they were able to help this holiday season. Thanks also to the Gardner family for spending the first day of their Holiday Break delivering the presents.

The year is starting off with a bang as this weekend and next weekend will see our young thespians in action in School House Rock! If you have not yet had a chance to get your tickets, parents are standing by the front gate both before and after school everyday.

Middle School Semester Finals

Just a quick reminder to all of our Middle School Parents: January 23-25 will be Semester Finals for grades 7 & 8. A test schedule will be published next week, so now is the time for students to begin their review of all the knowledge thy have accumulated so far this year. Progress Reports and Report Cards will be given to all 6th grade parents and Report Cards will be given to 7th & 8th grade parents on Friday, Jan. 27. Second Semester will begin Monday, Jan. 30.

Pre-S Through Kindergarten Parent Teacher Conferences

Friday, Jan. 27 will be Parent/Teacher Conferences for Pre-School, Pre-K, and Kindergarten parents at the Manchester Ave Campus only. There will not be classes for those three grades only; however, daycare will be available for these grades. Grades 1-8 will have a normal academic day! Sign-up sheets will be posted on the class doors for parents to pick a convenient time to meet with the teacher. If you are unable to meet with the teacher on the 27th, please talk with your child’s teacher to arrange a meeting on a more convenient day. Your child’s Progress Report will be given to you at this meeting.

Thanks,

— Mr. Lehmunn

Encinitas Blvd. Director Message

I hope that everyone had a wonderful Holiday Break and wish you all a Happy New Year. We would like to offer a special, warm welcome to all of the new families who have recently joined us. We are already off to a great start for the year 2012. January is a busy month. We are beginning our annual “Early Enrollment” for our Encinitas Blvd. Campus. During this early re-enrollment month, currently enrolled families are offered an opportunity to re-enroll for the next school year at the 2011-2012 rates. We offer this discount to you in order to secure your space and encourage you to make your decision before we open up regular enrollment for new families on February 1. January is also Parent/Teacher conference month. Please sign up in your child’s classroom if you would like to have a conference. As a friendly reminder, our school will be closed on Monday, January 16 in observance of Martin Luther King Jr. Day.

Thanks,

— Ms. Safarik

Visitors on Campus

Please check the Lost & Found bins for any of your student’s belongings. The bins are located outside the office on the back wall towards the Preschool & Kindergarten classrooms. All items remaining in the Lost & Found will be donated at the end of each month.
