Don’t miss all the holiday events in the next 2 weeks, and remember that school is closed for the Holiday Break from December 19 through January 2, with classes resuming on January 3.
I want to thank all the parents, students, and the PTO Board for all the help and support they have shown for getting our float and kids ready for the Encinitas Holiday Parade (pdf). Special thanks go to Mrs. Bachand-Morone, Mrs. Gardner and Brian Porterfield for making the vision come to life. I encourage everyone to either show up Saturday at 4 PM at Cardiff Classics to be a part of the parade, or show up at 5:30 to watch the Parade. We will have chairs set up in front of Cardiff Classic as well as the New York Pizza Truck and the Student Council selling hot chocolate, hot apple cider, candy, water, and popcorn. We’ll see you there.
Your child can still come and represent ECDS at the Encinitas Holiday Parade on Sat. Dec. 3 (tomorrow). You can ride your Beach Cruzer bike in the parade too! Come to Cardiff Classics at 1049 S. Coast Hwy. 101 by 4:00 PM, and join the ECDS float as we march in the parade for ECDS!
I want to congratulate all the First Grade students and their teachers for a job well done. They did a great job in presenting their character attribute “Relationships”. This was also a special assembly as we were also able to recognize all the athletes from our three fall sports teams, as well as give a special recognition to both the Girl’s and Boy’s Cross Country teams winning trophies for each finishing in second place in the league. Good job to the runners and to Coach Janine Daley for a job well done. Both the Girl’s Volleyball team and the Flag Football teams showed good improvement through the year and we can’t wait for next year.
Thanks,
— Mr. Lehmunn
Welcome back everyone! We hope you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving Break. December is already upon us once again. What a busy month this will be. There will be a ton of important information for December activities in your mailbox. Please be sure to read all of it. The Encinitas Holiday Parade on Coast Highway 101 will start at 5:30 PM this Saturday, December 3. Parents and children are invited to represent our ECDS float by coming out to Cardiff Classic on Highway 101 to join with other ECDS families to cheer our group on.
The EB campus Dance Performances will be on Friday, December 9 @ 9:39 AM on the upper playground stage. Be sure to check your parent mailboxes or front desk board for the classroom schedules for the Holiday Program/parties that will be held on Friday, December 16. Winter Break will start on December 19 through January 2. We will be available for daycare at this campus during those two weeks. Please be sure to sign-up at the front desk if you will be wanting this service. We will be closing early at 3 PM on Friday, December 23 and will be completely closed Monday, December 26 and Friday, December 30. The following Monday will be our last daycare day with regular school resuming on Tuesday, January 3, 2012. Please contact the office anytime you have any questions. Have a fantastic weekend!
Thanks,
— Ms. Safarik
Daycare will be available over the winter break at the Encinitas Blvd. campus only. Sign up sheets will be available on Monday Dec. 5. Manchester staff will be scheduled to work at the Encinitas Blvd. campus to accommodate the Manchester students, so please sign up for the days your child will actually attend. Billing will be based on the sign up sheets, not on attendance. The Manchester office is open during the winter break, but the school is closed.
If you need to speak to the classrooms directly, please call the schools main line at 760-942-111. If you are returning a call and hit “reply,” there are some lines that cannot be transferred to a classroom.
It’s time again for our annual ECDS Kids-to-Kids Program! The holidays are a time of year to realize how much we have to be thankful for, and to remember those less fortunate than ourselves. ECDS families have helped many local children through this special Kids-to-Kids program since our very first holiday was celebrated in 1988. Your child can participate by preparing a gift package for a child their age and gender, containing necessary items and a gift. Bring in the gift package to the ECDS Library by Friday, December 16, fill out a gift tag, and place it under the tree in the library. Your child’s gift will be distributed through Interfaith Community Services, to help another child in need this holiday season.
Mrs. Crawford and Ms. Colby would like to invite you to attend their Manchester Avenue Holiday Performances, showcasing your child’s musical and dramatic talent! Performances for Grades 1-5 will be on Weds. Dec. 14 in the ECDS Amphitheatre. The 10:00 am show features Mrs. Carp’s 2nd Grade, Mrs. Dattaray’s 3rd Grade, and both 4th Grade classes. The 12:00 pm performance features Mrs. Bremermann’s 1st Grade, Ms. Mulligan & Mrs. Rowe’s 3rd Grades, and Mr. Abraham’s 5th grade. The 2:00 pm show features Mrs. Hacker’s 1st Grade, Mrs. Herriges’ 2nd Grade, and Mrs. Mason’s 5th Grade.
Preschool and Kindergarten performances are on Thurs. Dec. 15 in the ECDS Library. Performances are at 9:30 am (Ms. Tabitha’s Preschool class), 10:30 am (Miss Lise’s Kindergarten class), 11:30 am (Mrs. Fleming’s Kindergarten class), and 12:30 pm (Ms. Maggie’s class). Don’t forget to bring your cameras!
Your kids can still sign up for Kids Korps, so they can participate in the upcoming Kids Korps events at ECDS and around San Diego. The next event at ECDS is a Farm Gardening project on Saturday, Dec. 10, from 10-am to Noon at River Road Farms in Oceanside. Please read the flyer for complete details, and contact Leila Ghaemifor any questions.
Come to shop and have fun at our Holiday Shopping Extravaganza in the ECDS Library, next Weds. Dec. 7, from 8:30-10:30 am, and from 2:00-4:00 pm. Bring your list, check it twice, and finish up your holiday shopping while supporting our school. You’ll find gifts for your family, friends, teachers, and maybe even something for you!.
